Janet Fraiser
Janet Fraiser, in her early life was married to a man who could best be described simply as "male chauvinist". He and Janet were divorced before she joined the SGC. Doctor Janet Fraiser has served the SGC as a physician since near its beginning. Captain Fraiser distinguished herself early by discovering a cure to a plague from P3X-797 that had devolved nearly everyone at the SGC into primitive humans. Working well with General Hammond, the SG-teams, and the other SGC doctors, Fraiser soon became an important part of the SGC. Janet Fraiser quickly became the Earth's foremost expert on goa'uld physiology, and she treated more alien life-forms and cured more off-world diseases than any doctor of Earth. Doctor Fraiser often provided medical services in the field on other planets, and she distinguished herself in a non-medical capacity when she was among the female members of the SGC that prevented Hathor's takeover of the SGC. A woman of great moral and physical courage, Fraiser often risked her own health and life visiting plague infested locations, and was known to volunteer for dangerous rescue missions. She can be credited for having cured at least two major plagues, and was involved in the cure of several more. She was also well known for fiercely defending the SGC's personnel against various threats to their health that would present themselves. After nearly three years of service with the SGC, Fraiser was promoted to Major, and she became the de-facto primary care physician for all SG teams. In her seventh year of service, while on a multi-team mission on P3X-666 to rescue SG-13, Janet Fraiser was killed by a staff blast.

During her tenure at the SGC, Janet became particularly close to SG-1, and especially Samantha Carter. When the child Cassandra, the sole survivor of a plague on Hanka, became orphaned, Janet Fraiser chose to adopt her. The close relationship between Cassandra and Samantha Carter served to deepen the relationship between Janet and Samantha. When Cassandra fell ill, nearly dying, because of Nirrti's genetic manipulations, Janet forced the captured Nirrti to help at gunpoint. This was probably the only serious negative incident in her career.

This character was the most frequently recurring guest character of significance. She was also probably among the most popular. In her seven years with the show, she appeared in just under half of the episodes, and the role was nearly always significant, often a central figure in the episode. Though, technically a recurring guest, she is typically listed with the regular cast at web sties and in books about the series. It is simply impossible to fit all of Janet Fraiser's accomplishments within the constraints of a short biography, and the above information should only be considered the highlights.
