After Denny Crane learns some disturbing news about the progression of his Alzheimer's disease and that an experimental drug which could slow his deterioration is available but not FDA approved, Alan Shore tries to convince the Massachusetts Supreme Court to let his best friend have access to it.

Meanwhile the murderous Catherine Piper returns, and Jerry Espenson and Katie Lloyd take on the case of an ambitious student fighting to maintain her acceptance to Harvard after being disqualified for using a brain-enhancing drug during her SATs.

music--Theme Song--"Babylon" by David Gray

Trivia: Catherine Piper's cell phone ringtone is the theme from _"The Practice" (1997)_, the show from which Boston Legal is a spin-off.

  • Carl begins to mention the only show on TV who has stars over 50, and then stops in fear of "breaking the wall". He is of course referring to Boston Legal itself, who is known for its habit of constantly breaking the 4th wall.
  • Henry Gibson's final television show performance.
