During rehearsal for "Baron's All-American Beauty Pageant," the contestants are shocked to discover the body of Miss Illinois - strangled, but by whom?

Meanwhile, as Castle and Beckett delve into the cut-throat competition of the pageant world, they learn that a number suspects had motive for murder, including jealous fellow contestants, the pageant's larger-than-life millionaire sponsor, Victor Baron, and the show's host -- hedonistic TV personality.

songs--"Theme song:Castle Whistle Theme by Robert Duncan"

  1. "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga
  2. "I Will Think Of You by Laura Browne Sorenson

Trivia--Nothing could be more ironic than using Lady Gaga's "Born this way" in a beauty pageant. They are most certainly not born the way they portray themselves and are instead the epitome of the kind of stereotype the song opposes.

  • Castle's remark "I love the smell of hairspray in the morning. It smells of ... victory." is a reference to the movie Apocalypse Now.

There are two kinds of folks who sit around thinking about how to kill people. Psychopaths and mystery writers. I'm the kind that pays better. Who am I? I'm Rick Castle. Every writer needs inspiration. And I found mine. And thanks to my friendship with the mayor, I get to follow her around. And together we catch killers.
