Body Count

  • One vampire woman, dusted by Buffy
  • Avilas, burned by Buffy with a torch
  • Cassie Newton, died because of a congenital heart defect

Monster of the Week:

  • Avilas: Peter and his friends summon Avilas, a large demon with unnatural strength who will supposedly grant the people who summon him with a sacrifice infinite amounts of riches. He didn't make good on his promise, but then again the girl didn't get sacrificed either. Avilas managed to brush off a butcher's knife in the shoulder, but was killed almost instantly by fire.

Characters:

  1. Buffy: Buffy starts getting people to counsel starting with this episode.
  2. Willow: Willow visits Tara's grave for the first time. We're reminded of her religion when she places two stones on Tara's gravestone, a Jewish tradition.

Buffy Summers looks like your typical high school cheerleader type, with nothing to worry about but grades and boys. Change that to vampires and demons and you'll be right. For Buffy is the "chosen one," the latest in a long line of Slayers whose destiny it is to fight evil.
