Detective Ridley is eager to search Mike's home when he's discharged from the hospital but does not find a toolbox in his premises. Lynette bakes a "Thank You" cake for the new neighbour, Art Shepherd who saved her life but soon finds out that he might be a pedophile.

Meanwhile, Bree tries to contact Orson's mother, Gloria Hodge and allows her to move in despite Orson's resistance. Gloria threatens to reveal Orson's secret if he tries to send her back to the nursing home. Gabrielle returns to modeling, but doesn't last long. Susan seeks Karl's help to set boundaries for Julie and Austin who start dating after the supermarket incident.

Trivia: The episode title, Children and Art is taken from a song from the Stephen Sondheim musical, Sunday in the Park with George.

Goofs: Art tells Parker that he is "Protector Man" to comfort him about Lynette being shot. He shows Parker the P on his shirt to prove he is a superhero. After Parker goes off to play, Lynette questions the P on the shirt. Art reveals that his cousin went to Purdue. The P on Art's shirt does not match the P from the Purdue logo, in style and color.

  • At the end of the previous episode, Gabrielle and Carlos agree to stop being hateful people after destroying each other's things when the divorce sentence comes to an end. On this episode, Gabrielle claims to be divorced and Carlos is out of sight. It's not explained where he went and what happened with his and Gabrielle's "fixed" relationship.
