Stardate: 46379.1 Three years after losing his wife during the battle against the Borg at Wolf 359, Commander Benjamin Sisko and his son Jake are reluctantly transferred to the space station Deep Space Nine in Bajoran territory.

Sisko has been ordered to oversee the repair of the station, which was heavily damaged during a period of Cardassian military occupation. But the discovery of a stable wormhole nearby soon turns the backwater station into a prized locale on the edge of an exciting new frontier.

orig. airdate--January 03,1993

music--"Theme from Star Trek" "Where No Man Has Gone Before" by Dennis McCarthy

Trivia--The "Battle of Wolf 359" prologue takes place concurrently with one of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)'s most famous miniseries: Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Best of Both Worlds: Part 1 (1990)/Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Best of Both Worlds: Part 2 (1990). That miniseries aired in 1990, three years before this production "Emissary". The Battle scenes in "Emissary" are based on a subplot written for "The Best of Both Worlds," when it was planned to have 3 parts rather than just 2, but were not filmed in 1990 due to budget constraints. Thus this "Emissary" is the first time when the much-discussed Battle was finally shown to viewers rather than simply talked about.

  • The mural draped in Quark's Bar is of Gul Dukat's Tholian enemy during the Cardassian occupation.
  • cost est. $12 million to make.
Goof--During the attack, a supposedly solid fallen girder or column on the Promenade is seen to bend like foam when someone lands on it.
