Fry, whose been living in the Planet Express offices, is a total slob and consequently kicked out of his office/living space. Fry and Bender get an apartment together and discover the nuts and bolts of cohabitation. The two become the ultimate "odd couple," until Bender gets kicked out of the building for creating television interference with his antenna.

When Fry doesn't come to Bender's rescue, a dejected Bender goes on a drinking binge and cuts off his antenna! Thankfully, the wisdom of the robot soap opera "All My Circuits" helps them mend their ways...and mend Bender's head.

original airdate--April 6, 1999

music--"Theme from Futurama" by Christopher Tyng

opening cartoon--Porky Pig in "Baby Bottleneck"

opening subtitle--As Seen On TV

Allusions:

  • In the shower, Fry sings part of the Looney Tunes theme music (indeed, the opening sequence contained a clip from Baby Bottleneck).
  • Fry hitting the TV and going "Aaaay" when it turns on is a reference to Fonzie from Happy Days, who used to do the same thing with a jukebox (and making the same two-thumbs-up gesture).
  • Bender and Fry's "Moving In" montage is a reference to "The Odd Couple."
  • Bender bending the clock and putting it on the edge of the table is a reference to Salvador Dalí's painting, The Persistence of Memory.

Goofs (14)--When the crew are leaving Fry's new apartment, Amy slips on the banana skin again and falls over, and for some reason Fry tries to shut the door without her leaving. Maybe it was easier than drawing her getting up, but still worth a look.

  • When Fry and Bender are furnishing their new apartment, Bender drops his cigar on the floor. It's still lit, but no smoke is coming from it even after Fry takes a puff.
  • When the landlady is trying to find the source of the interference, there is a pile of Bender's beer cans lying next to a pizza box, but when the team were watching TV beforehand, no cans were visible.
