The second season begins shortly after Caesar's murder. Octavian devises a plan to keep his family from fleeing the city, news that Antony happily delivers to a nervous Brutus.
Meanwhile, Vorenus mourns Niobe's death but curses his children, and Pullo and Eirene get married without knowing what's happened back in Rome.

- Antony's compromise solution of allowing Caesar's promotions to remain in effect meant that Vorenus would have continued to be a senator. For the sake of the storyline, this was conveniently ignored.
- When the conspirators chase Antony, he heads toward a temple. According to the religious beliefs of the Ancient Romans, once a person touched a temple, he was inviolate, and was granted sanctuary. Even professional assassins respected this custom.
Goof--After the death of Caesar the slave Posca becomes a freedman and starts working for Mark Antony. However, under the Roman code of patronage freedmen remained in service with their former master and subsequent heir. So Posca should have started working for Octavian, not Mark Antony.
