Stardate: 3715.3 --Kirk and a large landing party beam down to explore the beautiful garden planet of Gamma Trianguli 6. But the planet turns deadly when members of the party are killed by dart-shooting flowers, exploding rocks, and precision lightning strikes. The party captures one of the primitive locals who insist that their god Va'al rules over the planet... and it is angry with the newcomers who seek to destroy Paradise.

Goof--As Kirk calls for a transport after Spock is shot with poison thorns, McCoy is to Kirk's right, kneeling over the injured Spock (who has the thorns still in his chest), and Lt. Kaplan is to Kirk's left. In the next camera cut, McCoy is to the left, Kaplan is to the right (standing over Spock), and the thorns are missing from Spock's chest.

Trivia--This episode contains confirmation of a much-speculated upon topic: whether the Enterprise could separate the Engineering section and warp nacelles from the primary vessel. Mentioned in Kirk and Scotty's conversation by communicator, half-way into the show, after Kirk beams down to the planet with an away team, and Scotty takes a seat in the captain's chair on the bridge.

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
