(Seven Parts) The Inferno is a project designed to tap the molten core of the Earth, but the drilling threatens to unleash vast unforseen forces instead, foreshadowed by a dangerous mutative green slime, and actually seen by the Doctor when the inoperative TARDIS console slips him sideways into a parallel Earth where England is ruled by an oppressive fascist military state.
