MacGyver and Jack Dalton are arrested in Arkansas by a corrupt sheriff who arrests people to make them work in a labor camp used for mining gold. Mac wants to escape, but Jack has other ideas: He wants to find 5 million dollars his uncle Charlie left in the mines years before.

- MacGyver creates a distraction in order to escape from a mining shaft using carbide lamps, water, some flint, a rope and a rock hammer. The carbide was put in the water which creates a reaction forming acetylene (welding gas). CaC2 + 2 H2O → C2H2 + Ca(OH)2 The gas is then ignited with the flint taped to the hammer. By using the rope to swing the hammer, MacGyver and Jack Dalton had time to run away from the exploding gas.
