From the dawn of time we came, moving silently down through the centuries. Living many secret lives, struggling to reach the time of the Gathering, when the few who remain will battle to the last. No one has ever known we were among you.....until now.
Highlander: The Series tells the story of Duncan MacLeod, an Immortal born in the Highlands of Scotland on the Winter Solstice in the year 1592. As with all Immortals, Duncan's Immortality was a dormant gift revealed only upon his first "death". As an Immortal, Duncan is engaged in an age-old struggle for dominion. An Immortal can only be killed by beheading. When an Immortal is killed, the victor receives his power and his essence through a mystical process known as "The Quickening". This encourages Immortals to seek each other out, and kill one another.
In the end, there can be only one.
