Decimated by the fertility plague of the early 21st Century, humankind created a new race - the InVitroes - engineered to be smarter, stronger and less prone to illness. While squadrons of androids (AIs or "Silicates") explored the new frontiers, humankind and the InVitroes ("Carbonites"), began to rebuild Earth.
When the AIs rebelled, the InVitroes were conscripted into the military. But their refusal to fight lead to a pervading stigma, which continued to dog the AIs even after the war ended with no outright win by the humans.
The expansion of the Earth colonies lead to incursions into Alien territories, unknown except by select members of the Earth government. With two human colonies quickly wiped out, Earth is once again at war.
Newly graduated from flight school, a group of five fresh-faced cadets known as the "WildCards" are thrown into the war, led by an outcast inVitro commander. This is their story.
